Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, went on an inspection tour in Yangzhou on Wednesday to learn about the operation of the canal shoreline, historical and cultural blocks, water conservancy hubs, enterprises and communities.
When inspecting the Sanwan Ecological Park of the Grand Canal, Xin Changxing made inquiry into the environmental governance and ecological restoration and learned about the historical changes that have taken place in the Yangzhou section of the Grand Canal.
Noting that the Grand Canal is a valuable heritage left to us by our ancestors and a flowing culture, he said efforts must be made to coordinate the protection of cultural heritage, the improvement of ecological environment, the protection and restoration of famous cities and towns, the integrated development of culture and tourism, and the transformation and upgrading of canal shipping so as to bring wealth and happiness to and benefit the people forever.
When visiting the China Grand Canal Museum, Xin Changxing stressed that we should strengthen cultural confidence, deepen academic research, innovate exhibition and display, better inherit the canal civilization, tell the canal story, and spread the canal culture.
During the visit to the historical block of Dongguan Street, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee learned about the protection plan of the ancient city, inspected the repair, protection, activation and utilization of the block, and communicated with the inheritors of intangible cultural heritages such as paper-cut, lacquer art, engraving and printing.
Noting that Yangzhou is one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, the origin city of the ancient canal, and the principal city of in the application for the World Heritage status, Xin Changxing stressed that the city of profound history and culture must rely on the continuous inheritance, protection and utilization of generations, so that the thousand-year-old historical and cultural tradition can glow with the glory of the new era.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee visited the Jiangdu Water Conservancy Project, the source of the East Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. He asked the local government to make overall arrangements for water diversion, drainage, flood discharge, navigation, agricultural irrigation, and improvement of the ecological environment, and give full play to the key role of the water conservancy hub in the critical period.
When visiting Jing'ao Solar Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Xin Changxing hoped that the company would follow the new trend of the international energy technology revolution, achieving the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
During his visit to a local community, Xin Changxing made a detailed inquiry into the grass-roots party building and social governance, and thanked community officials for their contributions to improving people's sense of gain, happiness and security.
