On the evening of January 27, a special performance of Kunqu Opera was staged at the Suzhou Poly Grand Theatre, which was the first show of the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theatre’s performance week of classic Kunqu operas and new creations.
The performers from the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theatre, including reputed artists Wang Fang, Zhao Wenlin, Lv Fuhai, Yu Jiulin, Shen Fengying and Zhou Xuefeng, gave marvelous performances of 7 excerpts from famous Kunshan operas such as “The Romance of the Western Chamber” and “The Jade Hairpin”, which were greeted with thunderous applause from the audience.
