In the first 11 months of this year, Jiangsu reported 5 trillion yuan in imports and exports, up 6.7% over the same period last year, according to statistics from Nanjing Customs.
In the first 11 months, the province reported exports of 3.19 trillion yuan and imports of 1.81 trillion yuan, up 9.6% and 2% respectively.
Jiangsu reported a total import and export volume of 5 trillion yuan. The import and export through general trade reached 2.86 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.3%, 1.6 percentage points higher than the province’s overall growth with the proportion in the total import and export value increasing by 0.8 percentage points to reach 57.2%, compared with the same period last year. The import and export through processing trade was 1.56 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.3%, accounting for 31.2% of the province's total.
Statistics show that private enterprises have become the primary engine behind the foreign trade growth since the start of this year. In the first 11 months, the import and export of private enterprises reached 2 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.3%, accounting for 40.1% of the total import and export value of the province, driving the import and export growth of the province by 4.7 percentage points.
In the meantime, foreign-invested enterprises and state-owned enterprises reported imports and exports of 2.53 trillion yuan and 460.02 billion yuan respectively, up 2.2% and 9.6%, accounting for 50.7% and 9.2%.
Statistics show that in the first 11 months, Jiangsu's import and export volume to ASEAN exceeded that of last year, and its trade proportion to the "the Belt and Road" countries increased by 13.8%.
Jiangsu's import and export to EU, ASEAN, the United States, South Korea, Japan and other major trading partners accounted for 62.1% of the provincial total.
In the first 11 months, Jiangsu reported a substantial increase in exports of key products of photovoltaic and lithium new energy. The export of solar cells, lithium ion batteries and mobile phones has achieved an increase of more than 50%.
The province also reported a rapid growth in the export of basic organic chemicals and steel. The import of agricultural products reached 147.29 billion yuan, up 24.5%. the import of soybean reached 76.43 billion yuan, up 59.1%.
