A peace prayer meeting was held on Wednesday to remember the Nanjing Massacre victims at the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders in Nanjing. This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre.
The prayer meeting was supported by the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese and hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese. Nearly 50 overseas Chinese and youth representatives of overseas Chinese in Nanjing attended the event. Zhou Jiannong, vice chairman of the Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese, attended the event and delivered a speech.
Liu Hongyou, overseas consultant of Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation and president of the 9th All-Japanese Overseas Chinese Federation, and Zhang Hao, the Chinese director of the documentary "the Scar of Nanking", shared stories on the scene. Zhou Mengdi, a member of Huai'an Overseas Chinese Volunteer Service Team, told the story of Iris Chang, author of the Rape of Nanking: the Forgotten Holocaust of World War II.
The feature film Remembering History and Cherishing Peace vividly shows that since the 1980s, overseas Chinese have made great efforts to spread the historical truth of the Nanjing Massacre and advocate peace and justice through various forms of relay.
The speeches on peace initiatives sent by overseas Chinese from the United States and Germany were displayed via video. Li Li, the principal of Nuremberg Chinese School in Germany, and representatives of Chinese students from overseas shared their understanding and feelings of learning history and advocating peace through video link.
At the Peace Prayer Meeting, the Peace Prayer jointly issued by 38 overseas Chinese associations from 35 countries was passed on by guests and overseas Chinese representatives.
Presented in the form of a mobile phone terminal H5, the Peace Prayer had been relayed among more than 100000 people in more than 100 countries around the world and will last until National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims on December 13.
