East China’s Jiangsu province will make further effort to strengthen the system that would underpin and promote the development of TCM, according a provincial conference on TCM development held Thursday in Nanjing.
Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the provincial party committee, gave an instruction to the meeting. Yu Wenming, director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Fei Gaoyun, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor of the province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech respectively. Vice Governor Chen Xingying presided over the meeting.
In his instruction, Wu Zhenglong pointed out that Jiangsu is a powerhouse of traditional Chinese medicine, with thick deposits, rich resources and huge potential.
He asked the province's TCM industry to adhere to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guide, make in-depth study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important remarks on the work of TCM, and effectively strengthen the organizational leadership of the work of TCM.
The secretary of the provincial party committee requested the TCM industry to follow the development law of traditional Chinese medicine, inherit the essence, uphold integrity and innovation, adhere to the equal emphasis on traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine, deepen the reform of traditional Chinese medicine, and build an excellent and strong TCM service system, talent team system, scientific research innovation system, and industrial development system.
Yu Wenming pointed out that Jiangsu is one of the important birthplaces of traditional Chinese medicine, and the province’s work of traditional Chinese medicine has shown a strong momentum in recent years.
He hoped that Jiangsu would thoroughly implement the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on promoting the inheritance, innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine and the spirit of the National Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and strive to be a model and lead in strengthening the organization and leadership of traditional Chinese medicine and building a high-quality and efficient service system of traditional Chinese medicine, so as to make greater contributions to building a healthy China and improving the health and well-being of the people.
Fei Gaoyun called for efforts to promote the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine as the main line, adhere to the problem orientation, goal orientation and result orientation, speed up the improvement of traditional Chinese medicine service system, give full play to the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, effectively strengthen the training of traditional Chinese medicine talents, comprehensively promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine, strengthen the traditional Chinese medicine industry, and strive to build a highland of traditional Chinese medicine, talents, scientific research, industry and culture so as to build Jiangsu into a powerhouse of traditional Chinese medicine.
