Zhang Yizhen, Chairwoman of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the East-West Cooperation Work Symposium held in Xi'an on August 14 on the sidelines of the 6th Silk Road International Expo. Present at the symposium were Zhao Yide, Governor of Shaanxi Province, Xu Xinrong, Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and Wang Xiao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor.
Zhang Yizhen said that the implementation of East-West cooperation is a major decision and deployment made by the Party Central Committee from a strategic and overall perspective.
She said General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that it is necessary to improve the pairing-up assistance relationship between the east and the west, expand the areas of assistance, improve the assistance mechanism, optimize the assistance method, and form a good situation of regional coordinated development.
The Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have attached great importance to the cooperation between Jiangsu and Shaanxi, Zhang Yizhen said, adding that together with the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Jiangsu has organized and implemented a number of assistance projects to promote development, make up for shortcomings, and strengthen and weak areas, and have accomplished a number of livelihood projects that conform to public opinion and benefit people's lives.
Zhao Yide said that the cooperation between the east and the west and targeted assistance is a major decision made by the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core in a bid to promote coordinated regional development and common prosperity.
He said Shaanxi will work together to create a model for the coordinated development, joint development and win-win development of the eastern and western regions in the new era.
At the symposium, Zhang Yizhen and Zhao Yide also briefed the participants on the economic and social development of the two provinces and the cooperation between Jiangsu and Shaanxi.
