The Civil Affairs Department of Huai'an has organized basic life visits and investigations for groups with special difficulties in recent high-temperature weather.
The Department conducts visits and surveys to the elderly living alone among the respectively-subsistence beneficiaries and residents entitled to basic living allowances in the city and urges the implementation of care services requested in the four-party agreement content for the respectively-subsistence beneficiaries. The Department keeps abreast of their living conditions such as the housing environment, physical state, and food hygiene checks the safe use of water, electricity and gas, and gives away electric fans, cleaning and washing items to alleviate the impact of high-temperature weather on the basic living of people in straitened circumstances according to their actual needs.
According to statistics, civil affairs departments at all levels of Huai'an had conducted 20,100 visits to people with difficulties as of August 8, eliminated 50 potential safety hazards in water, electricity and gas, distributed 261 heatstroke prevention and cooling items such as electric fans, and issued temporary relief funds and condolence payments totaling 370,000 yuan.
