A large number of transport projects across Suzhou have seen progress recently. Let's have a look.
Dushu Lake No. 2 Tunnel
Work on the main structure of the tunnel was completed, and the installation of electromechanical and intelligent equipment as well as the interior decoration is underway. The tunnel is scheduled to open for traffic by the end of this year, and will shorten the trip between SIP and Wuzhong district to only five minutes.
East extension to Nanhu Urban Expressway
Yinshan Lake Tunnel, also the country's deepest tunnel under lake, was completed recently, marking the completion of the main line of Wuzhong section of the east extension to Nanhu Urban Expressway. The section is expected to open for traffic this year.
Expansion of 524 National Highway (Mocheng to Xinzhuang section)
Construction on the main line of the project has basically finished with traffic safety facilities being installed. The road will be opened to traffic this month.
SND Mahuan Connection Line
Bridges and tunnels are mostly completed, and construction on the road is in full swing. The line is expected to open next month.
Connectivity project of Changshu-Taizhou Expressway
Prefabricated box girders have been installed, and construction on the road is underway. The road will open to traffic this December.
South extension to Xingtang Street
Up to now, the viaducts are completed with construction on the road underway. The road is expected to be eligible to open for traffic by the end of this year.
Additionally, such projects as Suzhou Bay No. 2 Tunnel, expansion of 604 Provincial Highway (Shaxi section), transport hub of Suzhou North Railway Station, north extension to Xinghan Street, reconstruction of Loujiang Urban Expressway, etc. have been approved lately and will begin construction soon, and the work on the transport hub of Suzhou South Railway Station is in full swing.
As of last month, 61.1 percent of the city's planned major transport projects this year had been completed.
