East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development set forth in this year’s government work report. JSBC has the story.
Construction of the second phase of Wuxi Metro Line 4 started at Linghu Avenue Station on Wednesday. With a total investment of about 7.018 billion yuan, the 8.3-km-long rail track will be constructed with 6 underground stations.

Wuxi currently operates rail transit lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 with a mileage of 112 kilometers. The construction of Metro Line 5 and Xiyi S2 Line will also be started during the year.
The construction of Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel has achieved progressive stages. The shield tunnel excavation on the right line broke through 500 rings, with a footage of about 1076 meters, exceeding 1/5 of the total length of the shield tunnel section on the right line.
The Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is located about 27 kilometers downstream of the Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge and 5 kilometers upstream of the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge.
With the shield section 4,952 meters long, the tunnel is lowest at 82 meters below the river surface, making it large diameter, high water pressure and long distance.

According to the construction plan, the shield machine on the right line of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel will cross the Jiangbei Embankment in early July. At the same time, the left line project is also progressing as scheduled.
The largest diameter machine in China, "Juli No. 1", completed the initial trial excavation on the left line of the tunnel, successfully advancing 172 loops, with a cumulative footage of about 344 meters.
