The improving COVID-19 prevention and control situation in the surrounding provinces and cities, smoother traffic, logistics, and supply chain are accelerating the production resumption of the industrial enterprises in Huai'an.
The added value of the industrial enterprises above the designated size in May in Huai'an increased by 3.0% year-on-year, 0.3% lower than that in April. The average industrial added value increased by 8.8% in the first five months, 1.5 percentage points lower than that in the first four.
Among the 34 industries in Huai'an, the added value of 24 witnessed positive growth in May, and the growth rate expanded from 52.9% in April to 70.6% in May. Among the top ten key industries, the chemical raw materials and chemical products industries increased by 6.0% year-on-year in May due to the improving market and the resumption of production of key enterprises. The growth of key enterprises' overseas orders and production expansion drove the computer, communication, and electronic equipment manufacturing industries up by 2.8%. Although the tobacco industry maintained positive growth in May, it fell significantly month on month and contributed less to the overall industrial growth.
