East China’s Jiangsu province reported a 7.5% year-on-year increase in the added value of high-tech manufacturing in the first five months of this year by offsetting the adversities caused by the covid-19 epidemic prevention and control.
Thanks to the coordination of the industrial chain and supply chain by governments at all levels in the province, Jiangsu has successfully eliminated difficulties in the manufacturing process.
The latest data from the Provincial Bureau of Statistics show that in May, the added value of high-tech manufacturing industries above designated size in the province increased by 8.4% year on year, which was 9.5 percentage points higher than that of the province's large-scale industries, up 13 percentage points from April.
Kunshan reported a general stall in major economic indicators in April. In early May, 2,497 industrial enterprises above designated size resumed work and production in just 10 days.
In May, Kunshan reported an industrial output value of 91.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. The city employed more than 1.22 million people that month, higher than the same period last year.
