Industrial growth in east China’s Jiangsu province picked up by 1.1% year on year in the first five months of this year by overcoming the adversities caused by the epidemic prevention and control, the provincial department of industry and information technology said on Sunday.

The latest industrial operation analysis of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology shows that in May, Jiangsu reported a year-on-year decrease of 1.1% in the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size, an increase of 11.2 percentage points compared with April when the province encountered severe outbreak of covid-19 epidemic. Ten of the 13 prefecture-level cities reported higher growth rate than the provincial average.

The province’s rapid industrial recovery in May benefited from the support of governments at all levels.

Key automobile manufacturing enterprises in Jiangsu reported a production decline of 50% in April, but registered a month-on-month increase of 136% in May.

The inter-departmental and inter-regional liaison mechanism established by the departments of industry and information technology, transportation and commerce has helped more than 1,300 auto parts companies in Jiangsu resume work, and at the same time helped more than 60 auto manufacturing companies across the country resume production.

Yancheng High-tech development zone introduced Bosheng New Energy's new-generation lithium battery separator production equipment project and at the same time helped the company to cooperate with electric vehicle manufacturers to expand the market.

Thanks to the railway-based rapid customs clearance, the China-Europe freight train transported 100 TEUs of excavators and road rollers produced by XCMG to customers in Uzbekistan within 8 days, cutting back on the time required for shipment by 2 to 3 days compared to the normal customs clearance mode.

Since the beginning of this year, relying on railway-based customs clearance, the China-Europe freight train has helped more than ten key enterprises, including XCMG, to export products, saving costs and improving efficiency.
