It’s red bayberry season! Dongshan Town always faces mounting traffic pressure at this time of year when tourists flock to red bayberry plantations. Additionally rainfall has worsened road conditions. This year’s picking has already kicked off and is expected to run through June 18. Police from Wuzhong District recently issued a travel guide to ensure everyone has a safe and smooth trip.

1. From Gusu District and Xiangcheng District: Youxin Urban Expressway友新快速路→Dongtaihu Road东太湖路→Jianfushan Road箭浮山路→Binhu Avenue滨湖大道
2. From SIP: Wudong Urban Expressway吴东快速路→Nanhu Urban Expressway南湖路快速路→Youxin Urban Expressway→Dongtaihu Road→Jianfushan Road→Binhu Avenue
3. From SND: Middle Ring Road West Line中环西线→Dongshan Avenue东山大道
4. From Wujiang District: Dongtaihu Road→Jianfushan Road→Binhu Avenue
5. From Suzhou Taihu National Tourism Vacation Zone: Huantaihu Avenue环太湖大道
In case of heavy congestion on Huantaihu Avenue (Dongshan Hotel section), extra police will be called in to guide vehicles to Dongshan Avenue. Vehicles are not allowed to turn right at the intersection of Wuzhong Avenue and Dongshan Interchange and the intersection of Wuzhong Avenue and Dongshan Avenue when Huantaihu Avenue is tightly packed; all vehicles should detour via Dongshan Avenue.
More police will be put around the corner of Dongshan Avenue if it remains jam-packed and guide vehicles to Binhu Avenue. Chances are great that Daixinwan Bridge, an internet-famous site, will become crowded. To address the issue, visitors are forbidden to stop their cars on the bridge and are advised to park in the parking lot and walk to the bridge instead.

Residents should comply with anti-epidemic rules, wear face masks and have their venue codes, health codes and travel records checked when entering tourist attractions and hotels. Follow the directions given by traffic policemen should there be any traffic jam. Stay at hotels and B&Bs with valid certificates and cooperate in information registration when checking in. Look after personal effects carefully when going out.
