East China’s Jiangsu province will step up its efforts to promote the high-quality development of the meteorological observation, according to a conference held Wednesday in Nanjing. Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu, gave instructions.
Wu Zhenglong emphasized that meteorological work is a matter of great importance as it concerns the safety of people's lives and property and the overall economic and social development.
He asked the province's meteorological system to adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on meteorological work and Jiangsu's work, follow the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, focus on the new characteristics of Jiangsu's economic and social development and the new needs of people's safety, and better coordinate development and safety, and promote high-quality meteorological development.
Meteorological departments in all parts of Jiangsu must give full play to the advantages of Jiangsu’s meteorological resources, enhance the energy of meteorological science and technology innovation, create a high-level meteorological talent highland, and continuously improve meteorological capabilities for disaster monitoring, forecasting and early warning.
The secretary of the provincial party committee asked the meteorological department to build and improve the mechanism of meteorological capability to prevent disasters, build a strong line of defense for meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation, and more effectively ensure life safety, production development, affluent life, and good ecology, and provide high-quality meteorological service support for the new chapter of Jiangsu's modernization construction.
Xu Kunlin asked the meteorological departments of the province to speed up the construction of a demonstration system for monitoring and early warning services for convective weather, promote the transformation of meteorological digitization, informatization, and intelligence, and continuously improve the level of precision monitoring, accurate forecasting, and fine service, and give full play to the role of meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation as the first line of defense, and strive to improve the ability and level of meteorological service support.
Vice Governor Ma Xin attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He asked the meteorological departments across the province to conscientiously implement the work deployment of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, improve the ability of meteorological services to prevent disasters, promote meteorological development with scientific and technological means, and improve precise monitoring, accurate forecasting, and precise service level, and promote the high-quality development of meteorological capabilities.
