Farmers across Jiangsu are taking advantage of the fine weather to reap wheat to ensure that the summer grains are harvested and stored in the warehouses.
Four large combine harvesters were seen shuttling back and forth in a wheat field in Gaochang Town of Yixing County. When the full-grained wheat grains are loaded into the grain truck, the farmers would immediately transport the wheat to the nearby agricultural service center for drying.
"This year, the weather is helpful. It will rain when it should rain and it will be fine when it should be sunny. In addition, the field management and pest control are in place. We planted high-quality wheat varieties so the wheat yield is expected to be 425 kg per mu." Zhou Jianliang, Farm Owner said.
Since March, the agricultural and rural departments of Wuxi and Changzhou have organized agricultural machinery sales companies to overhaul and debug large-scale machinery and tools of local cooperatives, family farms and other planting entities.
Relevant departments in Kunshan and Changshu registered cross-regional agricultural machinery operators and implements in advance, and also formulated emergency support plans.
"We registered the personal information of each farm machinery operator to ensure that all farm machinery is ready before the wheat harvest." Xia Zhonglan, Chief of Agricultural Production Management Section of Zhangpu Town, Kunshan City, said.
"In addition to the cooperative's own wheat harvesting, we have also undertaken orders for more than 4,000 mu of wheat harvesting. We have enough agricultural machinery operators to ensure that the machines can run 24 hours a day." Zong Jiandong, Chairman of Changshu Yumeirun Agricultural Professional Cooperative said.
