East China’s Jiangsu province has strengthened its efforts in recent years to address the people's concerns and improve people's livelihoods when promoting economic and social development.
At the Four Seasons Spring Farm in Shiye Town, Dantu District of Zhenjiang city, fruit farmers are thinning the grapes. After three to four years of cultivation, the farm will usher in the first high-yielding period of Sunshine Rose with the total output expected to hit 60 tons.
In 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited this farm's elevated strawberries when he visited Jiangsu, and pointed out that "modern and efficient agriculture is a good way for farmers to get rich".
General Secretary Xi's encouragement inspired Ye Minglan, the farm manager. In recent years, she has continuously updated technology, enriched varieties, and expanded the planting area of orchards from 110 mu to 160 mu, which has promoted the employment and income of many villagers.
Dantu District has also introduced high-efficiency agricultural projects such as cherries and yew to gear farmers towards technologies, and develop tourism industry.
More than 4,000 mu of land circulated in the village is used to develop high-efficiency agriculture, and the per capita net income of farmers has increased by 7,000 yuan compared with 2014.
In recent years, Jiangsu has accelerated the construction of a modern agricultural industry system, developed high-efficiency high-quality agriculture and urban agriculture according to local conditions, promoted the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and promoted the enrichment of people and income through multiple channels.
By the end of 2021, rural residents had registered a per capita disposable income of 26,791 yuan, demonstrating the narrowing income gap between urban and rural areas and the solid progress that has been made in common prosperity.
Jiangsu has spared no efforts to develop high-quality medical resources, promote the balanced distribution of medical resources, improve the level of public health system construction, and accelerate the construction of a healthy Jiangsu.
The remote consultation system introduced by Shiye Township Health Center receives 56,000 patients per year, an increase of 40% over 2014. A new sports promotion health center has also been opened to provide full-cycle health services for the villagers.
Jiangsu will also continue to promote common prosperity, improve people's livelihood and well-being, and allow more and more equitable benefits of high-quality development to benefit the people across the province.
