Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, called for further efforts to promote the national reading campaign. He made the remarks on Friday when the province marked the annual edition of the national reading day.
Books are the carrier of human knowledge, the crystallization of human wisdom, and the ladder of human progress, Wu Zhenglong said when inspecting the Nanjing Phoenix Book City to learn about the progress of national reading campaign in Jiangsu.
He requested further efforts to abide by the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we should thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on promoting the national reading campaign so as to continuously improve the ideological realm of the people, enhance the spiritual strength of the people, and provide strong spiritual power and cultural support for the new chapter of the new Jiangsu modernization construction.
He pointed out that the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is contemporary Chinese Marxism, 21st century Marxism, and the essence of the era of Chinese culture and Chinese spirit, providing the fundamental follow and action guide for us to fulfilling each task.
He asked party members and officials at all levels in the province to take the lead in reading the original works, learning the original texts, and understanding the principles, so as to ensure that the readers have a more profound understanding of the truth and practical power of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era by gaining insight into the decisive significance that the Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
At the Jiangsu selected book exhibition booth, Wu Zhenglong examined in detail such books as "Jiangsu Library", "The Great Wall of China" and "Overseas Chinese Studies Series".
Noting that Jiangsu is a cultural powerhouse with huge strength in opening up that boasts excellent tradition of advocating culture and education, the secretary of the provincial party committee asked the province to dig deep into Jiangsu's profound historical and cultural heritage, create and publish more classic works for future inheritance so as to inspire thoughts and boost spirit.
When informed that some books have been translated into multiple languages and published abroad, Wu Zhenglong hoped that everyone will strengthen their cultural confidence, give full play to their own advantages, speed up the pace of the international promotion of the Chinese culture, tell the stories of China and Jiangsu in the new era, and promote high-level publishing exchanges between China and foreign countries so as to promote mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations and people-to-people bonds through high-level publishing exchanges, and make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Wu Zhenglong was also pleased to be informed that Phoenix Publishing and Media Group responded to the party history learning and education campaign by launching a large number of excellent works that have gained popularity with the children.
