East China’s Jiangsu province reported a total employment of 310,300 people in the first quarter of this year, thanks to the preferential policies that have been designed to offset the impact on industrial development.

In the first quarter, as the epidemic restricted the flow of people, public employment service agencies across Jiangsu launched online recruitment to bridge supply and demand.

The province-wide online recruitment for college students held in Zhenjiang released information on 13,684 vacancies in 1,058 enterprises and institutions, attracting more than 10,000 would-be college graduates from 110 colleges and universities across the country.

Jiangsu has also created government-sponsored jobs, strengthened internships to expand employment, reduces social security rates, and implements preferential policies to help companies stabilize existing workforce.

In the first quarter, Jiangsu reduced unemployment and work-related injury insurance premiums by 3.814 billion yuan, and issued 129 million yuan in vocational skills improvement subsidies.

Through various policies and measures, Jiangsu reported urban employment of 310.3 thousand people from January to March, completing 25.9% of the annual target.

Jiangsu will continue to strengthen and stabilize employment, further reduce the social insurance rate, and defer the payment of social insurance for industries suffering from the impact of the epidemic. At the same time, the province will carry out entrepreneurship and employment promotion activities in colleges and universities. The government will also subsidize the creation of jobs in public institutions, state-owned enterprises and urban and rural grassroots communities.
