Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu provincial committee, demanded tough measures to contain the sporadic resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on epidemic prevention and control so as to cut off the chain of transmission, prevent the spread of the epidemic, and protect the safety and health of the people. He made the remarks when going on an inspection tour in Changzhou city on Sunday.

Wu Zhenglong pointed out that the resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic in Changzhou is concentrated at a densely-populated construction site, making it difficult to trace the source and result in possible high risk of transmission and aggravating the prevention and control.
He asked authorities in Changzhou to further enhance their political stance, adhere to the general strategy of preventing inbound cases from overseas and sporadic resurgence at home, ensure dynamic zero case policy so as to make every effort to curb the spread of the epidemic, and resolutely prevent the spillover of the epidemic.
The CPC provincial chief called for immediate large-scale nucleic acid testing by combining antigen screening and nucleic acid diagnosis, strengthening epidemiological investigations, strengthening gene sequencing comparisons, identifying the chain of infection and the source of infection as soon as possible, and strive to identify all potential infected persons as soon as possible.

He called for strong measures to speed up the transfer and isolation of infected persons, strengthen traffic control, inspect various checkpoints, entrances and exits at provincial and municipal boundaries, prevent the spread of the epidemic, strengthen the management of key personnel and places, and strengthen the prevention and control of construction sites, ports, schools, hospitals and fever clinics, nursing homes, prisons, farmers markets, enterprises, cold chain logistics, and imported goods yards.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee asked Changzhou to go all out to treat patients, strengthen the prevention and control of hospital infection, respond to people's concerns, meet people's needs for basic living, medical treatment and purchase of medicines, ensure material reserves and stable prices, and resolutely win the battle of epidemic prevention and control.
