NPC deputies from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the four provincial-level regions in the Yangtze River Delta, put forth proposals concerning the further integrated development of the delta region at the ongoing 5th session of the 13th national people’s congress.
According to this year's government work report, China will thoroughly implement major regional strategies and regional coordinated development strategies to promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
With 4% of the country's land area, the Yangtze River Delta has created about 1/4 of the country's total GDP, making it not only large in economic volume and high in activity, but also one of the regions with the strongest innovation ability.
China will support increased investment in science and technology and carry out regional innovations with different characteristics, according to the government work report.
The deputies to the National People's Congress said that efforts should be made to build a scientific and technological innovation community in the Yangtze River Delta, turn their respective advantages into overall advantages, and be the pioneers of national technological and industrial innovation.
