Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, demanded tougher measures to close loopholes and contain the COVID-19 resurgence in Suzhou by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on epidemic prevention and control and making all-out efforts and strengthening scientific measures. Wu made the remarks when presiding over a meeting Monday in Nanjing on the battle against the sporadic resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Suzhou since February 13. Governor Xu Kunlin attended the meeting and put forward work requirements.
Wu Zhenglong pointed out that the provincial and municipal governments worked overnight to strengthen the prevention and control of the epidemic in the wake of the report of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in Suzhou, because the Beijing Winter Olympics were being held and the National Two Sessions were about to be held at the time of resumption of work and school after the Spring Festival.
He asked all local governments and government departments to enhance their political stance,go all out to strengthen epidemic prevention and control, and plug loopholes in a strict way.
Wu Zhenglong asked authorities in Suzhou to take more resolute and decisive measures to quickly and effectively contain the epidemic, expand the scope of testing and control, speed up epidemiological traceability, nucleic acid screening, isolation control, medical treatment, hospital infection prevention and control, cut off the chain of transmission as soon as possible, and resolutely contain the spread of the epidemic.
He asked the authorities in Suzhou to strengthen the requirements for prevention measures such as checking health code, temperature measurement, and wearing masks for key areas and key populations, enhance the management of quarantine centers, strictly prevent the import of infected cases from foreign countries, and ensure effective treatment of confirmed cases and the prevention and control of in-hospital infections.
The CPC provincial secretary also demanded local officials to strengthen their political awareness, enhance their sense of responsibility and consolidate the phased results in the fight against the virus so as to restore the order of production and life, coordinate the promotion of economic and social development, provide services and guarantees to improve people’s livelihood, and promote various tasks to a new level.
Suzhou reported 8 locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases on Monday. On February 10,an asymptomatic case was reported in Suzhou.
Xu Kunlin requested that all local governments and government departments implement the deployment and requirements of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, continue to improve various prevention and control measures, and create a favorable environment for economic and social development.
