East China’s Jiangsu province will make unremitting efforts in 2022 to ensure inclusive livelihood improvement for the needy people, according to a provincial working conference on civil affairs held Thursday in Nanjing.
Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that civil affairs work is related to people's livelihood, so the province's civil affairs system must adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhere to the people-centered development philosophy, and strengthen the construction of basic, inclusive and fundamental livelihood guarantees by gaining a deep understanding of the decisive significance that the Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, according to a statement released after the meeting.
The CPC provincial chief demanded that efforts be made to strengthen the provision of livelihood services for disadvantaged groups, deepen the reform of grass-roots social governance, better meet the people's yearning for a better life, make greater contributions to the new chapter of Jiangsu's modernization, and welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with practical actions, the statement said.
Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu Province, asked the civil affairs departments at all levels to fully implement the decisions of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, speed up the improvement of the social assistance system, strive to build a comfortable elderly care service brand, strengthen the care and protection of minors, consolidate the foundation of urban and rural grassroots governance, and give a stronger impetus to common prosperity, rural revitalization, modernization of provincial governance systems and governance capabilities, and make greater contributions to fulfilling new missions and writing new chapters, said the statement.
Vice Governor Hu Guangjie required solid performance of the duties of basic livelihood security, grassroots social governance, and basic social services, focusing on people's expectations, promoting comprehensive livelihood security, strengthening grassroots social governance, promoting the development of charities, deepening reform and innovation, and promoting high-quality civil affairs.
