About the Asymptomatic COVID-19 Case in Suzhou
Suzhou reported one asymptomatic COVID-19 case today (February 10).
A worker in Suzhou tested positive for COVID-19 during a routine nucleic acid test on the morning of February 10. The result was further confirmed by Suzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The patient was then transferred to the Fifth People’s Hospital of Suzhou for isolated medical observation, and was diagnosed as an asymptomatic COVID-19 case after the consultation of city-level medical experts.
The epidemic prevention and control emergency response mechanisms both at the municipal and the county/district level were initiated immediately upon the report. Epidemiological investigation, nucleic acid testing and isolated management and control have been fully carried out. Relevant venues have strictly disinfected their premises and are under management and control.
The asymptomatic case (female, 38 years old) is a staff member handling imported materials (non-cold-chain imports) at an enterprise in Suzhou. As a worker in key industries, she has taken nucleic acid tests routinely as required. All results before February 7 were negative. She took a test on February 9, and the result of the primary screening came back positive in the small hours of February 10.
As of 15:00, February 10, the case’s 51 close contacts in Suzhou and 7,578 indirect contacts and other relevant people have been traced and sampled. So far no one has tested positive. A total of 641 environmental samples have been collected and sampled, with no positive results for now. The close and indirect contacts are currently under observation at designated places.
We call on all residents to raise their awareness of prevention and control, follow such daily protective measures as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, ventilating more often, disinfecting in the right way, keeping social distancing, etc., and proactively cooperate in epidemic prevention and control measures.
