East China’s Jiangsu province launched on Tuesday the construction of 2,180 major projects with an investment of more than 100 million yuan in the first quarter. Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, gave instructions, and Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Acting Governor, delivered a speech at the launch ceremony.
In his instructions, Wu Zhenglong emphasized that the construction of major projects is an important driving force for stable growth, structural adjustment, benefits to people's livelihoods, and high-quality economic and social development.
He asked Jiangsu to adhere to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era, improve services for building a new development pattern, focus on advanced manufacturing and strategic emerging industries, industrial chain security and supply chain security, major infrastructure, ecological environment, public security and important livelihood projects, and strive to promote a number of high-quality and high-level projects.
We must strive to better integrate an effective market with a productive government, adhere to the principle of stability, seek progress while maintaining stability, stimulate the enthusiasm of market entities, control and defuse government debt risks, standardize decision-making procedures, improve work efficiency, strengthen factor protection, promote all aspects of work in accordance with the law, accelerate the implementation of investment projects, make contributions to stabilizing the macro economy and promoting high-quality development, and greet the convening of the 20th CPC National Congress with outstanding results.
Xu Kunlin said in the past year Jiangsu adhered to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era, implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and requirements for Jiangsu’s work and the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, adhered to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, and made the construction of major projects an important driving force and provided support and guarantee for the good start of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the modernization drive.
This year will see the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the beginning of the full implementation of the spirit of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, the acting governor said, adding that all aspects of work must be promoted by adhering to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, and promote and stabilize the macro economy through investment projects.
Xu Kunlin demanded efforts to strengthen systematic planning, follow the laws of market economy, industrial development and the spatial distribution of productivity, and promote the improvement of quality and efficiency of major projects.
He emphasized the need to increase recruitment with a broader vision, newer methods, and more flexible mechanisms, use high-quality resources to enhance development momentum, aim at the highest standards and best levels to create the best government services and a first-class business environment, and improve high-quality public services.
The Acting Governor emphasized efforts to strengthen overall planning and coordination, do everything possible to improve efficiency and speed up progress, and make more contributions to the country’s overall development.
