Nanjing started to construct in Jiangxinzhou a sewage collection system that will cross the Yangtze River. The project broke ground on Monday morning.
The sewage project can directly transport about 40% of the sewage in the downtown to the Jiangxinzhou sewage works.
The sewage pipeline has a total length of 755.6 meters, including a 693-meter shield tunnel, with a double-layer lining structure. The outer diameter of the tunnel segment is 8.8 meters and the inner diameter of the segment is 7.9 meters.
Wu Wenqing, Project Manager of the Sewage Collection System of China Railway 14th Bureau
This sewage pipeline is
China’s largest diameter sewage shield tunnel project
that crosses the Yangtze River waters
The project adopts
the dual-fluid synchronous grouting technology
that is comprehensively used
for the first time in China
and the comprehensive application
of the two new technologies of socket joints
filling the technical gap in this industry
This project can solve the pressure of the overloaded operation of the existing sewage pipelines across the river, and will also greatly improve the economy and operational safety.
