The city of Nanjing in east China’s Jiangsu province has made innovative reform efforts to ensure medical insurance coverage at grassroots communities.
The Medical Insurance Service Center of Taishan Sub-District, Jiangbei New Area of Nanjing has designed the office cubicles as "VIP rooms" to provide "one-to-one" services to the insured.
Yang Ningying, 63, rushed to reimburse her husband’s medical expense before the end of the year.
"At that time,I accompanied my husband to the hospital and found that the medical insurance card was demagnetized,so I paid more than 8,000 yuan.In the past,to reimburse medical expenses.I had to make bus transfers and queue up at the medical insurance office on two trips."said Yang Ningying, Resident of Taishan Sub-District, Jiangbei New Area
It only took ten minutes for Ms. Yang to complete the reimbursement. She also used the medical insurance self-service machine to reissue a new medical insurance card for herself and her husband in just two or three minutes.
"Now there is a medical insurance service center within easy reach.We can get there in less than ten minutes on foot,and we can get things done without queuing.It's very convenient"said Yang Ningying, Resident of Taishan Sub-District, Jiangbei New Area
The Taishan Sub-District Medical Insurance Service Center and its sub-centers now provide medical insurance services for 150 people every day, benefiting 420,000 people.
"In addition to our services in the lobby,we also extend all high-frequency matters to our communities and our grid red stations.For some inconvenient or older residents,we also provide on-site handling services.In addition to government approval services,we also cooperated with Taishan Health Center to set up family doctors and
some designated pharmacies,and regularly visit to provide residents with 'private customized' medical services."said Chen Xiaoyan, deputy director, Taishan Sub-District Administrative Service Center
