Multiple ongoing railway projects in the Yangtze River Delta have seen great progress.
Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway
The first continuous beams of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway project successfully rotated into position on the early morning of November 11, marking an new construction phase of the railway.

Construction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou Railway has been carried out in all aspects since November, 2021 to boost further integration of the Yangtze River Delta. The 163.8-kilometer line will carry trains that can reach 350 kilometers per hour and pass through seven stations: Shanghai Hongqiao, Songjiang South, Fenhu, Shengze, Nanxun, Huzhou East and Huzhou.

Upon completion, it will become an important railway that connects major cities in the Yangtze River Delta and also one of the railways that constitute the intercity high-speed railway network in the region.
Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Riverside High-speed Railway
Construction of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei Railway, which is part of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu Riverside High-speed Railway, has been under the spotlight recently as the National Development and Reform Commission officially replied to the research report on the feasibility of the project. That marks significant progress in the preliminary work and lays the groundwork of the construction in the future.
With a total length of 554.6 kilometers, the section, also known as the North Riverside High-speed Railway, stretches from Shanghai to Suzhou, Nantong, Taizhou, Yangzhou, Nanjing in Jiangsu province and Chuzhou and Hefei in Anhui province. The train will have a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

The section of high-speed railway has 16 stations, 10 of which are newly built -- Shanghai Baoshan, Chongming, Qidong West, Haimen North, Rugao West, Huangqiao, Taizhou South, Yizheng North, Nanjing North and Dashu.
Southern Yangtze River Railway
Construction on the Southern Yangtze River Railway is in smooth progress as an eight-kilometer-long bridge is being constructed along the Gehu Lake in Changzhou city. The railway bridge spanning 8 kilometers across the lake will highlight the protection of the water environment to ensure that the transportation project is integrated with the natural ecology.

At present, the constructors are stepping up the construction of the last 69 steel structures of the Gehu Bridge to ensure that it will be completed on January 10 next year.

The South Yangtze River High-speed Railway is the second intercity railway between Shanghai and Nanjing. Upon its operation, the railway will connect Jurong, Jintan, Jiangyin and some other counties in the south of the province. What’s more, people in Zhangjiagang and Changshu will no longer need to detour when traveling to Nanjing on a one-hour trip along the South Yangtze River High-speed Railway.
