On December 10th, SHOW JIANGSU Photography project, Pearl of the Grand Canal, concluded in Suqian.

In the 6-day tour, photojournalists from European Pressphoto Agency, Agence France-Press, Japan Broadcasting Corporation and other media outlets visited four cities-Wuxi, Yangzhou, Changzhou and Suqian in Jiangsu, exploring the vigorous development of cities along the Grand Canal and telling stories of Jiangsu visually.

In Suqian, photovoltaic panels installed above fish ponds at a photovoltaic plant attracted photojournalists’ attention. Covering an area of about 600 mu, the plant generates around 200,000 kilowatts hour of electricity per day with a total installed capacity of 31 megawatts since its completion in 2018.

A photojournalist was impressed by the photovoltaic plant as it can both raise fish and produce clean electricity, promoting environmental protection and rural revitalization.

Ships loaded with woods and coals sailed at Suqian Port and numerous containers piled up there. Upon seeing this, photojournalists were eager to fly drones over the port, shooting pictures and videos to record the fast transportation of goods.

In the SHOW JIANGSU Photography Project, foreign photojournalists experienced charms of cities along the Grand Canal and witnessed prosperous development of Jiangsu.

Photos they took were published by some well-known newspapers such as the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the Guardian, telling stories of Jiangsu to the world.
