East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to promote rule of law at a higher level in an all-round way, according to the“Opinions on Promoting the In-depth Study and Implementation of the Xi Jinping’s Thoughts on the Rule of Law for the Construction of a Higher Level of Rule of Law in Jiangsu” issued by the Provincial Office of the Rule of Law under the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
Jiangsu has put forward 21 key tasks in 7 areas, including improving the working mechanism of the party’s leadership in building the rule of law, improving the level of local legislative work, and strengthening administrative ability according to law.
In the meantime, Jiangsu will make targeted legislation in key areas such as science and technology, manufacturing, openness, education, and culture to ensure the efficient implementation of major strategies such as the "Belt and Road", the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. At the same time, it will also strengthen local legislation.
Jiangsu will optimize the power operation mechanism by tasking one department to be responsible for the same item, and one department to coordinate the same type of items.
Efforts will be made to deepen the reform of the law enforcement system and increase law enforcement in key areas related to the vital interests of the people, such as food and drug, public health, ecological environment, and production safety.
In the meantime, the province will strive to improve the power restriction mechanism, manage all major administrative decisions in accordance with the catalog, accelerate the construction of a government under the rule of law, and strive to build more than 10 national demonstration zones in the province.
The plan to build the rule of law in China between 2020 and 2025, issued by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, states that the rule of law is a hallmark of human civilization's progress, as well as the basic way of governance. It is also an everlasting pursuit of the Party and the Chinese people.
We should stick to the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics and promote the modernization of China's governance system and capacity in line with the rule of law, said General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Central Conference on the Rule of Law on November 16, 2020.
