East China’s Jiangsu province has effectively curbed the increase in vegetable retail prices in November, according to the monitoring statistics released by the Provincial Price Monitoring Center.
Since mid-October, Jiangsu has reported a rapid increase in vegetable prices, which has attracted great attention from the provincial party committee and the provincial government.
Compared with the same period of last month, the average retail price of 32 kinds of vegetables monitored in the province fell mostly on November 30, with the comprehensive average retail price standing at 4.71 yuan per catty, down 9.1%.
At the same time, with the arrival of winter and the drop of temperature, the demand for beef and mutton rises, pushing up prices.
In November, the average retail prices of lean pork and boneless pork were 17.55 yuan and 15.03 yuan, up 11.2% and 14.2% respectively. The price of eggs was 5.89 yuan, an increase of 8.9%.
