Jiangsu unveils cultural and tourism development plan for 14th Five-Year Plan period

East China’s Jiangsu province has unveiled a plan for its cultural and tourism development in the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the provincial department of culture and tourism said at a press conference on Tuesday.

By 2025, high-quality tourism products will become an important window of "the most beautiful Jiangsu in people's minds".

Jiangsu will be built into a cultural construction highland, a model province for high-quality tourism development, and a model area for the deep integration of culture and tourism.

The plan has set 18 indicators and planning goals for the annual per capita public cultural venue services and per capita tours in a bid to make Jiangsu become a world-renowned tourist destination that fully demonstrates the charm of water rhyme and humanities.

By incorporating the province’s series of practices and experiences in promoting cultural and tourism integration in recent years, Jiangsu has put forward 10 key tasks in response to the "One Project" and "Seven Systems" key tasks proposed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, including optimizing the layout of cultural and tourism development, deepen the integration and development of cultural and tourism industries.

The newly issued "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for Cultural Relics Development in Jiangsu Province" makes a systematic plan and strategic deployment for the development of cultural relics in the province during the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan.

Jiangsu will also implement important projects such as the cultural relic safety project, the cultural relic protection and archaeological project, implement the cultural relic safety improvement and refining project, the Grand Canal cultural relic protection and utilization project, the revolutionary cultural relic resource database construction, and take a series of measures to improve the protection and utilization of cultural relics in the whole province, and promote the historic leap in protection and utilization of cultural relics.
