East China’s Jiangsu province will accelerate the revitalization and development of old industrial areas and resource-based areas, according to a blueprint for the next five years.
As a major manufacturing province, Jiangsu has formed a large number of old industrial areas and resource-based regions including Jiawang of Xuzhou, Dachang of Nanjing, Daming Yarn Factory of Changzhou and some others in the course of years of development.
In order to promote their better transformation, Jiangsu will strive to further enhance its comprehensive industrial strength by 2025, transform its urban functions to a new level, make new breakthroughs in remedying weaknesses in people's livelihood, and continuously enhance the vitality of its systems and mechanisms.
In terms of industrial transformation, Jiangsu will help the output value of high-tech industries to account for about 50% of the output value of industries above designated size.
In terms of urban renewal and transformation, Jiangsu will protect more than 110 industrial heritage sites and build 300 thousand affordable housing units.
Regarding the issue of improving the quality of the ecological environment of public concern, Jiangsu will promote the comprehensive treatment of abandoned mines and coal mining subsidence areas by treating about 60% of the remaining mines.
