Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Provincial Committee, called for strict disciplines in the upcoming general election for the legislatures at the prefecture, county and township levels. He made the remarks at a meeting held Tuesday in Nanjing.
Noting that the general election at expiration of office terms for the incumbent legislature will be held at the end of this year or early next year, Lou Qinjian pointed out the significance of the election as it takes place at the juncture of the country’s efforts to fulfill the two centenary goals, build a comprehensive well-off society and embark on a new journey in the modernization drive.
He demanded tough measures to enhance political stance from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
Efforts must be made to accurately grasp the rich connotation and practical requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on the legislature election by coming to be aware that the general election is an important practice for adhering to and improving the system of the People’s Congress and fully demonstrating the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics.
The legislature election is an important opportunity to strengthen the construction of local government and improve the effectiveness of grassroots governance, Lou said, adding that it is an important guarantee for fully pooling wisdom and striving to write a modern chapter, making it necessary to effectively increase the sense of responsibility and urgency for the legislature election.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that the legislature election for the legislatures at the prefecture, county and township levels is a political, legal, and policy-oriented work, making it necessary to fully implement the policies and decisions of the CPC central committee and the provincial party committee with strict, lawful and orderly regulation so as to coordinate and advance all the work of the legislature election.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee required that the general election must adhere to the leadership of the party, strengthen overall planning, and organize elections in accordance with the law to ensure that the party's leadership is effectively implemented in all aspects of the general election.
Li Xiaomin, Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, presided over the meeting.
Guo Yuanqiang, member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee, and Zhang Aijun, member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, put forward requirements for the personnel work and publicity work of the general election.
