The northern regions of east China’s Jiangsu province are accelerating the housing improvement projects in the rural areas as this year marks the end of a three-year action plan to renovate or rebuild 300 thousand rural houses in the five prefecture-level cities in north Jiangsu.
Last month, more than 100 villagers moved into their new homes in Limin Community, Luji Town, Suyu District, Suqian City. Upon the completion of the phase III project, the resettlement residential community will become a happy home for 356 rural households with more than 1,500 villagers.

Beginning in 2018, Suqian has implemented rural housing improvement projects equipped with service facilities in education, medical care, health care, sports and culture, while ensured accessibility to water, electricity, and transportation. The local government also respects farmers’ farming customs by setting aside 30 mu of farmland to allocate a small vegetable plot to each household to meet their daily needs.

The lakeside Wangtun new rural community in Sunji Village, Luliang Town, Jinhu County has become a model for the local government to promote rural housing improvement and rural tourism.
At present, the resettlement community has developed 6 modern agricultural enterprises, built 5000 mu of sightseeing agricultural tourism areas, 1000 mu of high-efficiency fishery area, built standardized factory buildings, introduced sports equipment processing, clothing and toy manufacturers. These industrial development projects have employed more than 600 farmers and increased the average annual income by 33.6 thousand yuan per capita.
