East China’s Jiangsu province is gearing up to ensure steady power supply during the summertime, according to a teleconference held Tuesday in Nanjing. Fan Jinlong, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor, addressed the meeting. Vice Governor Hu Guangjie presided over the meeting.
All localities must establish and improve a unified, coordinated, efficient and orderly power supply guarantee mechanism, refine and improve the peak summer energy guarantee emergency plan, and implement local responsibilities for power guarantee, according to a statement released after the meeting.
All competent departments must perform their duties and cooperate with each other to strengthen the organization of power generation fuels such as coal and natural gas, enhance the operation and dispatch of electric power production, boost safe production in the energy field, promote risk management and control and hidden danger investigation and management, and increase production and supply under the premise of ensuring safety, the statement said.
Every effort must be made to ensure the residents’ electricity use and the electricity consumption of important users and facilities related to social stability and people's livelihood, encourage enterprises to use electricity at staggering time and promote the scientific and economical use of electricity throughout the society so as to achieve a dynamic balance of supply and demand, said the statement.
Measures must be taken to improve the ability to respond to emergencies, strengthen the forecast and early warning of extreme weather and other natural disasters, and improve the effectiveness of emergency response to minimize the impact, according to the statement.
Ensuring the power supply in the summer is an important foundation for promoting sustained and stable economic and social development, the statement said, adding that it is necessary to effectively enhance political stance, strengthen organizational leadership, form a joint force, adhere to bottom line thinking and problem-oriented approach, and ensure a good start and strengthen energy security for high quality development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
