Northwestern Polytechnical University launches German Research Center in Suzhou

China’s Northwestern Polytechnical University launched its German Research Center Sunday in Taicang, a county level city in the Greater Suzhou Area in Jiangsu province.

Taicang is known for its large number of localized operation of German enterprises that are numbered at nearly 380 presently since the first German-funded enterprise settled there.

The German Research Center of Northwestern Polytechnical University will give full play to the university’s research system and research strength, integrate the research power of China and Germany, build an inter-academic and interdisciplinary university think tank, provide consulting and training services for Chinese and German firms and organizations, and carry out project cooperation, cultivate talents in German research and Sino-German cooperation, and help Taicang to further promote the high-quality development of cooperation with Germany.

A ten-member consultant team was established at the launching ceremony.

In 2018, the Government of Jiangsu Province and Northwestern Polytechnical University signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Nanjing to jointly build the Yangtze Delta Research Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University and the Taicang Campus of Northwestern Polytechnical University.

In 2019, the Taicang Yangtze River Delta Research Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University was officially put into use. The Taicang campus of Northwestern Polytechnical University will start to admit students in September.
