East China’s Jiangsu province has urged smooth progress and strict regulation in the election of the deputies to the local legislatures at the provincial, municipal, county and township levels, according to a meeting of the chairpersons of the provincial people’s congress held Monday in Nanjing. Li Xiaomin, Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
It is urged that more efforts should be made to study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches at the symposium on the follow-up construction quality of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the important instructions on water protection and the Xi Jinping Thought on ecological development, according to a statement released after the meeting.
Efforts are required to make in-depth study of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches at the 19th meeting of the CPC Central Committee’s committee for deepening overall reform by highlighting problem-oriented approaches and prioritizing people-centered development philosophy so as to seek greater breakthroughs in the new development stage, the statement said.
Great attention should be attached to the election of deputies to the local legislatures at the provincial, municipal, county and township levels by following the leadership of the CPC Central Committee so that the election will get underway in an orderly way, said the statement.
Discussions were made at the meeting on such issues as the provision of multi-level elderly care services and law enforcement on sanitation, according to the statement.
Wang Yanwen and Chen Zhenning, both Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, attended the meeting.
Also present at the meeting were vice chairpersons of the provincial people’s congress Ma Qiulin, Xing Chunning, Liu Handong, Wei Guoqiang, Qu Futian and Secretary General Chen Mengmeng.
