East China’s Jiangsu province reported steady foreign trade growth in the first four months of this year, thanks to the continuous recovery in international demand and stable development of the industrial chain.
From January to April, Jiangsu reported 1.548 trillion yuan in its import and export, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%, an increase of 16.9% over the same period in 2019, and accounting for 13.3% of China's total import and export value during the same period.
Jiangsu reported 957.75 billion yuan of export, an increase of 18.4% over the same period in 2019 while its imports surged to 590.81 billion yuan, an increase of 14.4% over the same period in 2019, showing that Jiangsu has resumed its routine foreign trade growth.
From January to April, Jiangsu's general trade import and export amounted to 862.67 billion yuan, an increase of 28.4% year-on-year with its proportion hitting 55.7% of the province's total foreign trade value.
From January to April, Jiangsu’s imports and exports with the EU, ASEAN, the United States, South Korea, and Japan reached 235.31 billion yuan, 223.12 billion yuan, 207.49 billion yuan, 161.03 billion yuan and 140.82 billion yuan, reporting double-digit growth.
The import and export volume between Jiangsu and BRI countries was 393.38 billion yuan, 1.8 percentage points ahead of the province's overall foreign trade level.
From January to April, private enterprises in Jiangsu reported 558.32 billion yuan in import and export, 14.3 percentage points higher than the overall level of the province’s foreign trade, and becoming an important source of driving force for Jiangsu's foreign trade growth.
