The provincial government of Jiangsu convened an executive meeting Thursday to study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches on the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative. Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, presided over the meeting.
General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement on the "Belt and Road" initiative has pointed out the direction and provided guidance for Jiangsu's active integration into the "Belt and Road" initiative, according to a statement released after the meeting.
Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions, the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have made new progress in promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road" junction, the statement said.
Jiangsu lies at the junction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.
At present, major changes unseen in a century and the COVID-19 pandemic have exerted impact on the economy and society, and the world has entered a period of turbulent changes featured by significant increase in instabilities and uncertainties, said the statement.
Various parts of the province should make unremitting efforts to give full play to the province’s advantages in the promotion of the construction of the "Belt and Road" junction by following General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and speeches so as to accurately understand the new development stage, act on the new development philosophy and accelerate the establishment of the new development paradigm to drive high-quality development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, according to the statement.
Jiangsu will strengthen overall planning, adhere to the principle of "mutual consultation, joint construction, and sharing", promote the concept of openness, greenness, and integrity, and formulate and implement the "Belt and Road" junction construction plan during the "14th Five-Year" plan period from a high starting point, the statement said.
Efforts must be made to implement the international comprehensive transportation system expansion plan, the international production capacity cooperation promotion plan, the Silk Road trade promotion plan, the key cooperation park promotion plan, and the people-to-people exchange promotion plan, give full play to the role of Lianyungang as the entrance and exit of land-sea transportation, and accelerate the construction of China-UAE production capacity cooperation demonstration parks, promote the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, build high-quality "Belt and Road" junctions, and ensure high-standard and sustainable development goals, said the statement.
Jiangsu will promote the development of new types of consumption characterized by new business formats and new models such as online shopping, mobile payment, online and offline integration, and accelerate the construction of a new development pattern to satisfy the people's desire for a better life, the statement said.
More efforts will be made to implement the policies and decisions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, promote new development concepts, adhere to supply-side structural reforms, expand domestic demand, continuously improve supply capacity and supply quality, strengthen policy support and encourage innovation, and promote the organic integration of online and offline economic models, the construction of new consumer infrastructure and carriers, optimize the development environment, and improve the guarantee mechanism, according to the statement.
Measures will be taken to build new types of consumption modes into an important engine for Jiangsu's economic development, to create high-quality lives for the people while promoting high-quality development, and to provide strong support for accelerating the establishment of a "dual circulation" development pattern, in which domestic and foreign markets complement and reinforce each another, with the domestic market as the mainstay, the statement said.
