East China’s Jiangsu province has regarded the renovation of old residential communities in the urban areas as a matter of great interest to the people, to the high quality development and to the sense of happiness in response to the policies of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
No. 1 Courtyard of Yijiaqiao New Village, Chongchuan District, Nantong City, has become a brand new residential community with wide roads, scattered greenery, and newly repaired walls, which has posed a striking contrast to the previous dirty,chaotic and disorderly shape.
Some residents dismantled the platforms on which debris and flowers were piled, and years of illegal construction were thoroughly cleaned up.
Last year, the Chongchuan District Government of Nantong City invested 440 million yuan to systematically renovate 12 old communities, effectively solving the problems of aging infrastructure, lack of public services, and dirty living environment.
"It’s good for us to take a walk and do exercises in the morning and evening.Some people enjoy doing square dancing in the new environment."a resident said.
The local government will invest 1.4 billion yuan this year to renovate 50 old communities in the district. 50 elevators will be erected for multi-storey residential buildings.
