2021年国际桥梁大会 (IBC) 奖项相关评审工作近日完成，沪苏通长江公铁大桥获乔治·理查德森奖！
The International Bridge Conference (IBC) finished its annual review of medals for 2021 recently. Among the three award-winning bridges in China, Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge received George S. Richardson Medal.
George S. Richardson Medal
Presented by the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania, the IBC is an international academic conference on bridges and enjoys a high reputation. Its bridge project awards give seven medals, including George S. Richardson Medal, on a yearly basis.
As IBC’s earliest and most influential award, George S. Richardson Medal recognizes a recent outstanding achievement in bridge design, construction and scientific research.
Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge
As a key and decisive project in the construction of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway, Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge extends from Tongzhou District, Nantong in the north to Zhangjiagang, Suzhou in the south with a total length of 11,072 meters.
The bridge is the combination of a four-track railway and a six-lane highway, and functions as a state railway, an inter-city railway and an expressway three-in-one.
The opening of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway and Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge means that Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang, Suzhou’s three county-level cities along the YangtzeRiver, are now accessible by train. With the number of train stations in Suzhou increasing from 14 to 20, the dream of “every city in Suzhou has train service and train station” has come true.
The total passenger flow at the four stations in Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang, namely Zhangjiagang Station, Changshu Station, Taicang Station and Taicang South Station, had reached 1.75 million by the end of last year. They have made it much more convenient for residents along the railway to travel and given an impetus to Suzhou’s high-quality social and economic development.
