The city of Nanjing will host a national performance for the 30th Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award from May 8 to 22. The event will be sponsored by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Chinese Dramatists Association, Nanjing Municipal People's Government.
The Plum Blossom Award，known as the highest award for Chinese drama performance, aims to commend young and middle-aged drama actors who have made outstanding achievements in performing arts.
17 outstanding drama actors from 16 provinces were shortlisted for this year's final review, covering 14 categories including Peking Opera, Yue Opera, Qin Opera, Huangmei Opera, Sichuan Opera, and drama and opera.
Starting on May 8th, 17 plays brought by 17 actors will be performed in six theaters in Nanjing. 15 award-winning actors will be selected after the on-site review. The award will be handed out to the winners on May 21.
