The 25th anniversary of the Jiangsu-Fukuoka Friendship Sakura Garden was marked at an online event held Tuesday.
Lou Qinjian，Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress，expressed his warm congratulations on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Jiangsu- Fukuoka Friendship Cherry Blossom Garden. He said that for the past 25 years, the Cherry Blossom Garden has witnessed the friendly relations between Jiangsu and Fukuoka by playing a positive role in deepening the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese peoples.
Lou Qinjian expressed his sincere gratitude to the Fukuoka Prefecture Assembly and the Japan-China Friendship Cherry Blossom Society of Fukuoka Prefecture for their long-time support to the construction of the cherry blossom garden and the promotion of the development of the friendly relations.
He hoped that the two sides will give full play to the role of the cherry blossom garden as a bridge and link to further strengthen communication and cooperation, promote mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, jointly write a new chapter of friendly exchanges, and make positive contributions to building the Sino-Japanese relationship that meets the requirements of the new era.
Li Xiaomin，Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress，said that in the past 25 years, Jiangsu and Fukuoka Prefecture have used the cherry blossom garden as a link to promote people-to-people exchange, enhance the exchange between regional governments, and maintain friendship between non-governmental organizations so as to make it a model of friendly exchanges.
He hoped that both parties would take the 25th anniversary of the completion of the Cherry Blossom Garden as an opportunity to further intensify contacts, strengthen exchanges, enhance understanding, deepen cooperation, and jointly write a new chapter in the promotion of friendly relations.
Genaki Yoshimatsu, chairman of the Fukuoka Prefecture Assembly，Seitaro Hattoro, Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture，and Kunihiko Yoshitake，chairman and member of the Japan-China Friendship Sakura Association of Fukuoka Prefecture，congratulated the 25th anniversary of the completion of the cherry blossom garden. They said that since the establishment of friendly relations in 1992, the Fukuoka Prefecture Assembly and the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress have established a regular exchange mechanism and have carried out rich and colorful exchanges in the fields of environment and culture.
Lu Guijun，the Chinese Consul General in Fukuoka，said that next year China and Japan will mark the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations, and Jiangsu and Fukuoka will mark the 30th anniversary of their friendly relations. He looks forward to the joint efforts of Jiangsu Province and Fukuoka Prefecture by promoting the exchange and cooperation in various fields to a new height.
