East China’s Jiangsu province reported 16.7% year-on-year growth in its port throughput in the first quarter of this year. JSBC has the story.
Thanks to the rapid recovery of the industrial economy, the Dafeng Port in Yancheng reported 11.57 million tons of throughput in the first quarter, a record high in the 16 years since the establishment of the port.
Dafeng Port has witnessed a significant increase in the import of raw materials and the export volume of high value-added goods such as wind turbine blades and auto parts. In the meantime, it has set a record of 102 meters of wind turbine blade hoisting to make it one of the three basic ports for wind turbine blade exports in China.
Yancheng Port signed a strategic cooperation agreement for shipping containers to the Huai River basin by seizing the strategic opportunity of marine development and at the same time strengthened its cooperation with state-owned enterprises to promote the construction of the Dafeng Port railway branch line and railway logistics park so as to build a regional modern logistics hub in the north wing of the Yangtze River Delta.

Lianyungang Port Authority has coordinated with the customs to implement 24-hour water gauge inspection, which has improved the efficiency of ship turnover. At the same time, it has established a regular business exchange mechanism with the maritime management department to effectively and timely solve the problems in the port production and operation process and improve the core competitiveness of the port and shipping market.
The Taicang Port has cooperated with the Shanghai Port to establish the "Taicang Service Center" to transfer the functions of Shanghai Port to Taicang Port in advance so as to provide customers with localized "one-stop" services, and guide the transfer of Shanghai Port route resources to Taicang Port.
Taicang Port has also accelerated the opening of multiple domestic and international routes to have become a port with the most types of routes, the widest coverage of ports, and the most densely scheduled services among container ports along the Yangtze River.

"In the first quarter, the container throughput of Taicang Port exceeded 1.5 million TEUs, setting a record since the opening of the port," said Wang Minyong, Director of Development Service Bureau of Jiangsu Taicang Port Administration.
From January to March, the ports in Jiangsu reported a cargo throughput of 710 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.7%. The throughput of foreign trade reached 140 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%, laying a solid foundation for building a two-way open hub with global cohesion during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
