Multiple public transport projects in Suzhou have made progresses recently.
Suzhou Rail Transit Line 5
Suzhou Rail Transit (SRT) Line 5 entered into 15-day trial operation on March 18, which has now come to an end, and the new line is scheduled to be opened to traffic in June.
SRT Line 5 starts at Taihu Xiangshan Station (太湖香山站) in Wuzhong District, passes through Wuzhong District, SND, Gusu District, SIP and stops at Yangchenghu South Station (阳澄湖南站) in SIP. It measures 44.1 kilometers in length and has 34 stations in total, including 33 under the ground and one above, and nine of them are transfer stations.
Suzhou Rail Transit Line 6
The tunnel shield machine successfully went across the section between SRT Line 6’s Jiangxinglu Station (江星路站) and Qingtanglu Station (清塘路站) recently. The left line tunneled through this time is 776 meters long and the average subsidence is only four millimeters at maximum, which is a record low in the history of Suzhou rail transit construction. Up to now, 21.5 percent of the line’s tunnel excavation work has been finished, and its trial operation is set for June, 2024.
With a length of 36.12 kilometers and a total of 31 stations, SRT Line 6 starts from Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station (苏州新区火车站) in SND and stops at Xinqinglu Station (新庆路站) in SIP.
Songling Avenue Comprehensive Transport Hub
The project of Songling Avenue Comprehensive Transport Hub is designed to reach Songling Avenue (松陵大道) in the east, Dongmei Street (冬梅街) in the west, Dongtaihu Avenue (东太湖大道) in the south and Guihua Branch Road (规划支路) in the north, and is to be linked with SRT Line 4’s Songlingdadao Station (松陵大道站) in a seamless manner.
According to the construction plan, Songling Avenue Comprehensive Transport Hub (松陵大道综合交通枢纽) will be built into a complex made up of a six-story transport hub (three above the ground and three under) and a community-oriented neighborhood center. It is expected to come into use around 2022.
