Suzhou will kick off a spring themed tourism initiative and roll out multiple measures to upgrade and vitalize its night economy, according to the conference convened on March 27.
Eight night economy activities to be upgraded
✦ Up to 600 places of consumption will be improved with an emphasis on such brands of “Suzhou Opera” and “A City of One Hundred Museums”.
✦ Night consumption map (2.0 version) will include more content and optimize its enquiry service to make it easier for tourists to find the internet-famous sites.
✦ Suzhou will give out coupons and organize “Cultural and Tourism Consumption Month” on a regular basis.
✦ Suzhou Rail Transit will extend its operation times on Fridays and weekends and offer service around the clock at designated periods; key night bus routes will also have extended service hours.
✦ A total of 2,000 shared parking spaces will be built and nearly 10,000 parking spaces will be set up in key areas and road sections.
✦ “Suzhou Intelligent 315 Unconditional Refund Platform” will be upgraded to bring more convenience to consumers in Suzhou and Shanghai.
✦ Suzhou will support “roadside stands” and “night markets” by lowering the access threshold for business.
✦ Suzhou will also experiment with appointing “nighttime head of district (county-level city)” to keep the city’s nightlife in order.
A To-do-list for Tourists
Appreciation: The spring flower map will highlight the good places to appreciate blossoms.
Catering: Springtime seasonal foods, tourists’ favorite time-honored brands, Jiangnan specialties as well as special restaurants will be recommended to tourists.
Outing: Destinations which are suitable for spring outings will be put on the recommendation list.
Tour: Tourists can participate in a series of spring themed festivities including study tour, parent-kid tour and sporting tour, etc.
Shopping: Some specialty shops, brands and shopping malls are worth a visit when you travel to Suzhou in spring.
Accomodation: Tourists should miss out these characteristic B&Bs, high-end hotels and culture themed hotels.
Night Enterainment: Tourists can enjoy opera and quyi performances and many other special entertainment at Jiangnan Little Theatre (江南小剧场), Jiangnan Little Shuchang (江南小书场), etc.
Night Drink: Tourists can go to cafes, bars and tea houses to refresh themselves.
Night Banquet: There will be special feasts and late-night canteens as well.
Night Market: Night markets will be available at designated night blocks and commercial clusters.
