Governor Wu Zhenglong went on an inspection tour to Soochow University on Wednesday, demanding that Soochow University adhere to the Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era, study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions, educate people for the party and the country, and focus on cultivating all-round socialist builders and successors so as to make greater contributions to building a new development pattern and promoting high-quality development.
When visiting Soochow University, Wu Zhenglong learned about its historical evolution, discipline construction, and talent training, and fully affirmed the outstanding achievements of the school's reform and development.
He said that Soochow University is second to none among the regional universities in China by cultivating a large number of outstanding talents for Jiangsu and the country.
When inspecting the innovation achievement exhibition area, Wu Zhenglong made detailed inquiry into the development of platforms such as the State Key Laboratory, and carefully observed the latest scientific research results in the fields of biomedicine, information technology, new energy, green environmental protection, aerospace equipment, and advanced manufacturing.
Noting that innovation is the primary driving force and talent is the primary resource, Wu hoped that Soochow University would thoroughly implement the new development concept, strengthen the innovation and development capabilities of education services, and cultivate more talents of all kinds who are suitable for high-quality development and high-level self-reliance.
Governor Wu asked Soochow University to give full play to its own advantages, rely on the strong industrial foundation of the Yangtze River Delta region, strengthen technological and industrial innovation, accelerate the promotion of the integration of technology and economy, the transformation of results into industries, and strive to transform the potential of technological innovation into the powerful force for promoting high-quality development.
When inspecting the gallery for the display of the heroic deeds of the CPC members sacrificing their lives from 1920s to 1990s, Wu Zhenglong demanded tougher efforts and more concrete measures to promote the campaign of studying the history of the CPC so as to make new and greater contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and to celebrate the centennial birthday of the CPC with outstanding achievements.
