As the total number of private cars in Suzhou had reached 4,433,000 by the end of 2020, the difficulty of parking has become a pain in the neck for many car owners.
To address this issue, Suzhou will take multiple measures this year including building more parking spaces and piloting shared parking spaces.
01Carrying out a special campaign
The three-phase campaign is designed to regulate and upgrade the parking services in such key places as old city area, CBD, residential communities as well as schools, hospitals, parks and scenic spots.
The campaign is now in the “quick solutions” phase, which will last until June this year. Then it will move into the next phase, namely the “sustained efforts” phase.
●Suzhou will add up to 15,000 public parking spaces in 2021.
●Suzhou will continue to add at least 15,000 public parking spaces respectively in 2022 and 2023.
●Suzhou will include 5,000 parking lots and 1,000,000 parking spaces into smart parking management system within three years.
02Piloting shared parking spaces
Suzhou will initiate the trial operation of shared parking resources, aiming to set up at least 28 pilot parking lots and 5,800 pilot parking spaces. Besides, Suzhou will accomplish the annual goal of adding more than 15,000 public parking spaces through the construction of new parking lots, the renovation of old residential communities and the planning and marking of roadside parking spaces, etc.
In addition, Suzhou is going to realize the dynamic management of 5,000 parking lots and 1,000,000 parking spaces and offer comprehensive services such as enquiry, payment, parking, transfer, etc. in three years.
On June 30, Suzhou Smart Parking Comprehensive Management Platform and “Su Zhou Dao” App (苏周到, a smart phone App that includes a full range of life services) will be connected to provide local residents with dynamic query services.
