East China’s Jiangsu province has made every effort to promote the construction of major investment projects, improve the level of project management and operation, and accelerate the construction of a modern water safety guarantee system with reasonable layout, complete functions, economical efficiency, and strong guarantees to ensure a good start in the water conservancy modernization drive.
The staff of Baoying Station, the source pumping station of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project this year, has just completed the inspection of the pumping station units, sluices, main power distribution and control systems.
The automated pumping stations rely on operating data to ensure real-time monitoring and alarms, one-key start and stop of the unit, which will further improve management efficiency and information level.

Starting on March 2, the second phase of water transfer will account for 69% of the annual volume of the water to be transferred from the south to the north. The tired pumping stations along the eastern route of the South-to-North Water Transfer project such as those in Jinhu, Hongze, and Sihong have completed the inspection and maintenance to ensure smooth progress.

Jiangsu is stepping up its efforts to promote the construction of key water conservancy projects. The Xinmeng River extension and dredging project, when completed, will promote the water circulation of the Taihu Lake and improve the water environment of the Taihu Lake. The workers are making the final sprint after more than three years of construction.

In 2021, Jiangsu will continue to build a modern water network that integrates water disaster prevention, water resource allocation, and water ecological protection to improve river basin flood defense and cross-basin water transfer capabilities.
In the meantime, Jiangsu will strengthen the construction of regional governance projects, improve the urban water conservancy engineering system, expand the regional drainage capacity, promote the rural water system connection and the comprehensive improvement of rural rivers, and gradually build a modern water security with reasonable layout, complete functions, economical efficiency, and strong protection system.
