East China’s Jiangsu province marked the International Consumer Rights Day over the weekend. JSBC has more.

Market supervision, customs, and public security departments at all levels across the province initiated enforcement actions to destroy counterfeit and shoddy products. Suzhou destroyed counterfeit and smuggled cigarettes with a value of more than 77 million yuan, setting a new high in recent years.

Authorities in Huai'an destroyed 4.05 million packs of cigarettes over 110 types seized in the past two years, totaling about 5.47 million yuan.

The smuggled cigarettes worth more than 4.0726 million yuan in Zhenjiang's case were burned at garbage power plant to generate electricity.

Local market supervision and management departments have also cracked down on false product promotions, such as prize sales baiting customers with Mercedes-Benz cars as the top prize.

The Suzhou Intermediate People's Court heard consumer disputes cases on March 12, reminding consumers to protect their rights and interests in accordance with the law.

Fire-fighting and rescue team in Wuxi and Huai’an launched community publicity and livestreaming activities to introduce to the public how to distinguish the quality of commonly used fire protection products.
